Ostfildern near Stuttgart, 28 September 2005. Mobile navigation systems help when it comes to finding the shortest route to a destination. However, if traffic jams and overloaded side roads bring the traffic to a standstill, car drivers are always faced with the dilemma: “Should I avoid the traffic jam or do I stick to my intended route?” In order to give car drivers the best-possible assistance in coming to the right decision, Falk Marco Polo Interactive is following on from the successful launch of a world first with the mobile navigation organizer “Falk Navigator 7000 SC” by expanding its range of products to include the TMC (Traffic Message Channel) version. It provides intelligent traffic information including details of the delays to be expected based on the traffic jams that have formed. The new Falk Navigator 7000 PRO SC thereby helps car drivers to conserve nervous energy and to save precious time and expensive petrol.

Ostfildern near Stuttgart, 08 August 2005. The beginning – PDA navigation:
Up until 2000, it was still possible to get an overall view of the navigation market. Anyone who wanted to be guided to their destination had to install an in-car navigation system. However, in recent years, this situation has evolved with increasing speed and with growing success. According to a study carried out by the British market researcher Canalys, around one million mobile navigation systems were sold in Europe in the first quarter of 2005 alone and, as a result, more than in the entire first six months of the previous year. This development began with navigation using personal digital assistants (PDAs). Although the first generation of products provided navigation to a given destination, they still had a decisive disadvantage – the GPS device had to be connected to the PDA using a cable.
